Hello friends! Welcome to the September edition of Reading Lately! We (Michelle at Michelle Lately and Cat at Cathrine Chicotka and I) hope you find some new books to add to your never ending to-read list and join us for the linkup. Don’t have time to write a post? Instagram your books and tag with #ReadingLately to share with us.
As you may have noticed, I’ve been doing more comprehensive book reviews. Mondays are now dedicated to books in some fashion, whether it is a review or some sort of list. I hope that you enjoy the more comprehensive reviews. If you would like to see it differently, I would love to hear from you!
Because of this, my Reading Lately posts will just be a recap of what I have read and reviewed this month.
Ageless by Paul Inman (review here): I wanted to like Ageless, I really did. It is an interesting storyline. A young girl that ages very slowly and can heal instantaneously is part of a Nazi experiment. She lands in the US and spends her long life on the run. But what bothers me about Ageless is the execution.

Schism by Britt Holewinski (review here): This sort of book is usually right up my alley. People using their smarts and common sense to not only survive, but to help the world as well by removing the “big bad.” However, parts just rubbed me the wrong way and there were just far to many cliches used to make it worthwhile.

The Immortals by Jordanna Max Brodsky (review here): I liked the dog more than the other characters, so there really isn’t much to write home about this book. If you enjoy Greek gods, you can give this a try. But other than that, I wouldn’t pick it up.

I also put together a list of 9 Sci-Fi/Fantasy stand along books for those of you not wanting to commit to an entire series. Some of my favorite authors are included!
So the month of September wasn’t the greatest reading wise. Thankfully, I recently finished Find Your Extraordinary by Jessica DiLullo Herrin (the CEO of Stella & Dot) and it was quite good. I should have that review on Monday.
Tell me, what have you been reading lately?

Sorry you had so many duds this month! Where do you get your book ideas from? Just curious…
It was a bit of an off month. Most of these I found on netgalley, which can be hit or miss. I also get a lot of recs from The Book Smugglers blog.
I ditched a couple of books in August (always a bummer), but September was a good reading month for me. I hope you have more reading success in October! Thanks for hosting the link up!
Glad you could join us! I always hate ditching books, but sometimes it is necessary. So far, October is off to a good start 🙂
Seems like September wasn’t the best book month…bummer when you read a book that isn’t really worth your time. Hopefully next time.
Yeah, I rolled the netgalley dice and got a couple duds. Here is to hoping I get some good ones this month!
I have forgotten about NetGalley. I need to stop by there again. Thanks for the reminder. Ageless sounds like an interesting premise, sorry it wasn’t better. Thank you for hosting!
I absolutely love netgalley. I’ve had a few duds recently but I’ve also found some great ones!
I read a bunch of duds this month to. boo.
