Dark Matter Review

We have all questioned decisions we have made in life. There is always that “what if” thought in the back of our mind, even if we are happy with where we are in life. But what if there was a way to see those “what if” lives? That is what Dark Matter tackles in this twisty book that makes you think and just might freak you out a bit (in a good way)!

Goodreads summary of Dark Matter

“Are you happy with your life?” Those are the last words Jason Dessen hears before the masked abductor knocks him unconscious. Before he awakens to find himself strapped to a gurney, surrounded by strangers in hazmat suits. Before a man Jason’s never met smiles down at him and says, “Welcome back, my friend.”

In this world he’s woken up to, Jason’s life is not the one he knows. His wife is not his wife. His son was never born. And Jason is not an ordinary college physics professor but a celebrated genius who has achieved something remarkable–something impossible.

Is it this world or the other that’s the dream? And even if the home he remembers is real, how can Jason possibly make it back to the family he loves? The answers lie in a journey more wondrous and horrifying than anything he could’ve imagined—one that will force him to confront the darkest parts of himself even as he battles a terrifying, seemingly unbeatable foe.

Review of Dark Matter

Thi is a tough review to write. This book is damn good. But I don’t want to give anything away. So moral of the story, go read it. Right now.

Think of it this way. You are living your extremely ordinary life. You have a family, job, and good health. Nothing really bad. But in a span of 24 hours, everything you thought you understood is completely turned inside out. How would you react? And how far would you go to get back to your ordinary life?

Jason’s journey to try and get back to his life is extreme and quite amazing. You will be sucked in quickly. Even the secondary characters are good. But the bulk of the story is following not only  Jason’s physical journey, but also his mental one.
