Every once in awhile, I like to step out of my comfort zone and get something different. This plaid poncho is one of those items. Actually, I kind of blame Deena at Shoes to Shiraz for wanting one because she is always rocking them. So here is how to wear a plaid poncho, Puppies & Pretties style.
Since this poncho is a statement on its own between the plaid print, oversize fit and cowl neck, I went simple for everything else. These flare jeans give it a bit of a retro look. Then a simple tote (how have I lived so long without one of these Tory Burch beauties?!?) completes the outfit. I can see wearing this poncho with skinny jeans and riding boots too. This might be in the running for a Christmas outfit too, but that would have to be with leggings. Because this girl doesn’t have time for non-stretchy pants on a wonderful food day like Christmas!
If you haven’t noticed, I’m a total dress/skirt kind of girl. But I’m kind of stumped on how to wear a plaid poncho with a skirt or dress. Maybe with a body con dress and riding boots? It seems that you need a bit of a trim fit on the bottom to help balance out the oversize fit of the poncho. But I might have to do some experimentation with some of my skirts or even dresses.
Are you wearing ponchos this winter season? I’d love to hear how you are styling them!

I love everything about this look. Kinda boho and yet polished. Great look!
ERMAGERD I NEED THIS. i’m glad my poncho/cape craziness pushed you into this because you look divine.
Love the poncho look on you. I’ve been wanting one for some time and I really like the bottom left corner option because it almost looks like a loose tunic that I could wear to the office and be stylish/professional at the same time. I also really like the bottom right.
You know I am poncho crazy! I have at least a dozen in my closet but now I think I need this one too, I absolutely love the colors and the design! You look cozy and adorable!
Cute! I love ponchos, I’m so happy they’re back in style. My mom crocheted me one as a kid (I still have it) and I love wearing it around the house or when I’m camping.
I need more poncho’s in my closet! I love the plaid! This is such a cute and cozy look!

That is a gorgeous poncho and so festive for December. Welcome by my blog as well and join my linkup tomorrow. Thanks Allison and happy holidays!
I bought a poncho once and then felt ridiculous every time I had it on. But they look so good on you and Deena! Maybe I just need to try again??
This is so gorgeous on you! Absolutely love the colors, as well. 🙂
Love this with the flares! I think they look great on you! It’s a fun alternative to a sweater!

It looks great on you! I had to wear ponchos when had a broken arm. I felt totally self conscious at first, but I they kept me warm. I definitely didn’t look as good as you wearing it.
You look so classy! I used to wear ponchos all the time a few years ago, but they always got caught in the car door, so I stopped, haha!
Loving this poncho, girl. I have been wanting to get my hands on one.
I’m kind of in love with this poncho. Love the colors, the cowl neck, everything. You could wear it with a pencil skirt and it would be adorable!
Loving the plaid poncho! And you styled it perfectly.

OMG I looove ponchos!! They are seriously so warm and easy to wear. And this plaid on is so perfect!! I need it (:
Such a pretty poncho. I love the warm camel color in yours. I bought one online from Kohl’s but I am dangerous in it. I roll my rolling office chair all over it and knock things off the counters with the “arms” or “tails”. Need a block of instruction on how to wear a poncho like a lady.
